The first Durango Colorado vacation rental is tucked next to the Florida River (that's Flo- REE- da, not FLOR i-da), twelve miles south of Durango. Avalon Acres has 15 acres of landscaped property to relax on. With paths and benches, there are plenty of places right there to unwind and refresh yourself.

They are happy to help you plan your local event, a wedding for instance, and have a beautiful place to hold the ceremony (they can accommodate up to 150 guests).

Two separate homes hold from 2 to 6 people, and rent weekly as well as for the minimum 2 night stay. Come see this quiet retreat, and spend your next vacation relaxing completely.

Highlights:

Another of the Durango vacation rentals - a home away from home, Bear Paw Lodge has 10 homes you can rent with from one to six bedrooms. All have fully equipped kitchens, either a fireplace (or 3) or a wood stove and from 1-3 bathrooms. Six of the ten have Satellite TV, the rest have TVs, some with VCRs. Most also have laundry facilities.

Right near Vallecito Lake, there's plenty to do, spring, summer or fall. Bear Paw Lodge is tucked right up near the Weminuche Wilderness, if your fancy runs to really getting away from it all!

Please note: This resort is only open May through November, though, so plan accordingly.

Of the seven different Durango vacation rentals Durango Mountain Resort gives you, only one is vacation homes you can rent. Mountain Vacation Homes, is a series of fully furnished homes you can rent for your ski vacation - or your summer retreat. Still near the ski area, yet with more privacy, these are a great choice for a quieter getaway.

Balcony House at Graysill is the first of the three. It includes a 2 car garage, 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. It also boasts gas burning fireplaces in the living and family room, a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Located just 200 yards from Durango Mountain Resort ski lifts, restaurants and shops, it makes access easy to some great activities and dining.

Four Boards House at Engineer Village is their second choice in Durango vacation rentals. This one is across from Purgatory Village. With 4 bedrooms, 4 full baths, two car heated and finished garage, a stone fireplace, it will make you feel right at home.

Bartolini Cottage is the third home rented by Durango Mountain Resort. Secluded in aspens and pines, the Bartolini Cottage looks out over Tamarron golf course and the Hermosa Cliffs. Featuring vaulted ceilings, 4 bedrooms (2 masters), 3 full baths including a master with double shower and jacuzzi tub, and an open kitchen, it’s a great place for a relaxing vacation. It also has a 2-car garage, a stone fireplace and a reading area backed by a wall of glass and great views.

How about Durango vacation rentals right in town? The Furlow House is close to downtown, without being on Main Avenue. With four bedrooms upstairs, this lovely 1898 Queen Anne home can sleep up to seven guests.

The kitchen is furnished with all your cooking needs, the linen closet stocked for the bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus you have use of the washer and dryer so you don't go home with LOADS of laundry. The yard and gardens are professionally maintained, the house decorated with Victorian art and antiques.

As far as Durango vacation rentals go, I think the name of this one wins: Grandma's House, sleeps up to eleven people comfortably. It has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the upstairs bathroom is the original clawfoot bathtub, and downstairs are two fireplaces. There are also a piano and a library.

The house has been owned by the same family for 70 years. A new flagstone patio in the back is set up as a barbeque and picnic area. They include bicycles (stored in the shed) and inner tubes, for floating on the Animas River, or sliding down the snowy slopes.

Highlights:

Of the five Durango vacation rentals this place lists, two are secluded homes you can rent. The first Durango Colorado vacation rental, called the Bonner house, is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with spectacular views of the Needles Mountains. It includes a fireplace, full kitchen, laundry and deck.

The second is the Roselius house has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a deck that wraps around three sides of the house. Boasting great views from every window, thie house also has a laundry, a large kitchen, gas fireplace, a loft with a pool table and a hot tub. A two-car garage will keep your vehicle out of the weather.

Both properties are close to Durango Mountain Resort, and would make great winter rentals, if you ski, or quiet, more secluded retreats for spring, summer or fall vacations.

The last (alphabetically) of the Durango vacation rentals, Tall Spruce House is great for large families or reunions. With 6 bedrooms and 5 baths, sleeping up to 20 people, you have plenty of room to spread out.

In addition to the fully equipped kitchen, great room, 2 laundry areas, the house has a private massage & exercise room, where you can have a certified masseuse visit to help you relax. You can also hire a professional chef, if you’d rather not cook yourself.

Right next door is Trimble Hot Springs, with the hot springs pool and a regular Olympic size pool for swimming. Across the valley lies Dalton Golf Course. And of course, you have fabulous views of Missionary ridge across the way.

Definitely, this is another great place to consider.
