Find Durango Restaurants That are the Best in Family Dining
When you choose one of the Durango restaurants, you'll find that most are family friendly. My husband often thinks we need to “dress up” to go to certain restaurants, and while it’s fun to do so, in casual Durango, it’s not required. And we've yet to eat at one that didn't cater as well to your kids as to us.The first of the restaurants in Durango we review on these pages can be considered both a family place and one that offers great American cuisine. The second of these Durango restaurants is a Swiss bakery that's both fun and tasty, and offers some more natural food choices. The third one offers both a family atmosphere and American cuisine, though since our last stop there, we’ve developed a bit less enthusiasm for it. Still, all three are worth a try. Here’s to a healthy appetite!
Christina's Bar & Grill 21382 US Highway 160 W Durango CO 81301 970-382-3844
Christina's is one of our favorite Durango restaurants. Located adjacent to the Best Western Durango Inn and Suites, it's got friendly wait staff and tasty food. One of our favorite times to come is for brunch (this is a favorite treat of my sister's family – one we’re often invited to join). They serve excellent omelettes, pastries and other breakfast fare. Their lunch and dinner menus are great, too. We took my mom out there for her 70th birthday dinner. Service is generally quick and I've never had a wait person less than cheerful and helpful there. Just outside of Durango on Highway 160 West, this is an excellent choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Ken & Sue's 636 Main Avenue Durango Co 81301 970-385-1810
This is another of the Durango restaurants that's been recommended to us. The food at Ken & Sue's can be very good. Not always typical American fare, but a wider variety that pleases a broad range of tastes. The wait can vary from fast, friendly service to...not so great. My daughter and I went for lunch one day, very late in their lunch-serving day, and the service was ridiculously slow (we didn't order anything that took much time to prepare). The food was good enough, but the waitress a bit taken aback by our request for slight changes to our orders, as well. (Maybe she’d had a bad day?) So, while this is one my family enjoys on occasion, it's not on the top of our list, after our last visit there. They do have a "To Go" menu (like the Applebee’s “Carside to Go” craze that’s been happening near us in Minnesota). Perhaps that’s a better choice, if you need to be somewhere sooner rather than later.
