Downtown Durango Colorado is all about fun. And atmosphere. Any trip to Durango, whether to a dude ranch, a ski resort or just to the area for a varied vacation deserves at least one day to walk Main Avenue.

And if you want to bring home souvenirs of Colorado – hats, mugs, t-shirts, pictures, art and crafts - you’ll find them here.

Nearly every trip to Durango, we bring home a new t-shirt for each of us. Yes, our drawers sometimes bulge with too many Durango t-shirts. But if you figure we wear out a shirt or two each year, then it works out okay.

And t-shirts aren’t the only souvenirs of Colorado we like to drag home. We have pictures, Native American art, shot glasses, books, jewelry, and mugs. Oh...I forgot hats!

Probably, we have more than that, but I don’t even want to think about it. Especially not when it comes time to pack to move to Durango.

Wandering the streets of downtown Durango Colorado is certainly one of the pastimes we always fit in on our trips there. After all, we have to see what new stores and restaurants have popped up (some come and go in a matter of months), and which of our old favorites are still hanging around.

And we do have favorites. My absolute favorite for a variety of souvenirs is Out of the Blue. Appropriately painted blue outside, this one stands out.

Though it’s small inside, it’s packed with fun things: t-shirts, metal wall art, mugs, stuffed animals, hats (nice selection of broad-brimmed hats to cut some of that high altitude sun), occasionally unusual dolls (which I buy for my mom) and calendars.

Don’t think I’ve given an exhaustive list, either. Impossible. You have to go in to see what they have and what’s new each visit. So if you’re going to downtown Durango Colorado, be sure you check into Out of the Blue.

For those t-shirts we like to collect, one of our favorite shops is Half-Price Tees. They have a huge selection of t-shirts, sweatshirts and denim shirts, and can print nearly any of their designs on any of the t-shirts in the size and color you want while you wait.

And of course they have tote bags and hats, too. Check them out next time you’re in downtown Durango Colorado!

One more option we’ll mention is a place called Main Avenue Marketplace. This shop has a larger selection than many of the other stores, simply because they have more room for them. (A lot of the shops are tiny little places.)

Again, t-shirts are to be had, jackets, hats, mugs, jewelry and more. They have a small section devoted to Native American crafts, too, including blankets, pottery and collectibles.

Be sure to include at least these three shops when looking for souvenirs of Colorado when you come to downtown Durango Colorado. But, if you’re like us, you won’t be able to help but step into most of the shops on Main Avenue. Just to check them out.
