Colorado Pictures: More of Our House Progress, Part 4
September 12, 2009 Here are more of our Colorado pictures showing the SLOW progress of our house. Remember Mr. Murphy? Yup. He's still after us. By the way, if you're going to build a house and you choose your flooring and appliances ahead so you can give the bank the numbers for your building loan... don't expect to be able to get ANY of the appliances, flooring or anything else you chose, if you don't build within a couple months. We're re-choosing all sorts of things because we priced last fall, and none of what we chose is still available. I wonder how many contractors have similar problems... But, as you can see, progress is being made, albeit still slowly. We almost have a complete roof. Not counting the weather-proof parts. In Our Next Chapter Last time I posted Colorado pictures, our back roof panels we almost all in place. Despite another glitch in the sizing and placement of some SIPs.
Here you can see the back roof panels are all up, including the shed gable for the future upstairs bathroom.

And these next two show the front roof panels beginning to go up.

Here you can see the front roof is complete (including two sky lights) except for those two gaping holes... oh wait, those are gable "holes".
One for the entryway "tower" (ooh, we get a tower!), and one for the upper window in the great room.
My Kingdom For a Gable... Or Two

Then we moved right on to the upper landing, the level that goes above the main entryway.

Only problem was, the SIPs company got the measurements wrong in three places (or more?) and we had to play games to line things up and make sure the walls were going to reach the roof.

So, here you can see our "tower" is nearly complete.

Does that make this a castle? I've always wanted to live in a castle!

And then the gable and roof for the tower goes on.

Whee! I'm glad I'm not up there hanging by a thread!

And it's finished. One gable down, one left to go.

Slow go? Here's the post that supports the beam that supports the great room gable roof. (Isn't there a kids' story that goes something like that?)
Anyway, as I write this, we had another one of THOSE DAYS, and only got the beam up. Hopefully the rest of the gable will go more smoothly.
I'll be back (as Arnold Schwarzenegger says.)
