A Trio of Colorado Bird Watching Clubs
Want to find others who like birding? How about some Colorado bird watching clubs?

There are three bird watching clubs in the Durango area. Plus a couple more nearby in Cortez and Pagosa Springs. So if you're into birds, check one of these out so you can join others with your passion. The first is the Durango Bird Club. They hold meetings every other month. They also have field trips on the second Saturday each month to hot spots for various bird species.
Bird counts are another activity this club gets involved in. Four of them each year: an eagle count in January, a spring bird count in honor of IMBD, the International Migratory Bird Day celebrated the second Saturday in May, a waterfowl count in November, and the National Audubon Christmas Bird Count in December.
Dues for this club are only $5.00 per year. Once you join, you get their newsletter, which keeps you up to date about activities they have going on. Currently, you can find out information about this group by going to their
group on Yahoo
, or e-mail them at DurangoBirdClub@yahoo.com.

Another Colorado bird watching club I found by searching online is the Animas River Valley Bird Watching Club. However, I can't seem to find any contact information about this club. If I find anything, I'll post it here. The third club in Durango is the San Juan Audubon Society. I've tried contacting them and not gotten a response, yet, but according to what I've found, they can be reached by calling 970-385-1865, or at PO Box 2716, Durango CO 81301.
Nearby, the Mesa Verde National Park Bird Watching Club meets in Cortez. And a new chapter of the Audubon Society just began in Pagosa Springs. It's the Weminuche Audubon Chapter. Again, I don't have contact information I can put on the site, but that gives you a start in finding a Colorado bird watching club near you.
I forgot the Henderson Bird Watching Club... oh, wait. That's just us, out and about watching birds every chance we get. In Minnesota and Colorado.Hope you have as much fun as we do, wherever you live!
