When we asked about a bed and breakfast in Durango Colorado, this is the place that was recommended to my husband and I for our 20th anniversary. (We didn’t make reservations soon enough though, so we didn’t get to try it out! We will soon, though. It comes highly recommended by my family).

The Apple Orchard Inn sits up the road a bit from where my sister and brother-in-law live, north of Durango in the Animas Valley. With four rooms in the main house and six separate cottages, they have accommodations for plenty. The rates quoted above include a hearty breakfast, and afternoon snack and home-baked triple chocolate chip cookies available at all times (yum!).

If you’d like a gourmet dinner prepared just for you, make reservations in advance (they request a few weeks notice), and they’ll be glad to serve you in the private dining room.

I don't know about the other bed and breakfast in Durango Colorado, but this one sounds great! With featherbeds and hardwood furniture in all the rooms, you’re sure to feel cozy and coddled at this inn. Come check them out! We plan to do so, as soon as we’re in Durango again.

Our next bed and breakfast in Durango Colorado has six guest rooms. You can reserve one for you and one for your kids (or friends). Or...you can reserve the entire place for your group. They have a common area with a fireplace to relax after your day of adventure, or a television area where you can enjoy a movie. Each room has its own private bathroom.

They serve a full breakfast, and have complimentary snacks and drinks available all day long. Tucked into Ponderosa pines north of Durango, they overlook the Animas River. A quiet retreat from the bustle of town.

How about a historic bed and breakfast in Durango Colorado? The Gable House, built in 1892, is listed on the National & State Historic Register. A beautiful Queen Anne Victorian home, it sits in the heart of Durango near the "boulevard" (as we call Third Avenue).

The rooms are furnished with period antique pieces, each with a private entrance. Your complete breakfast is served on fine china and silver, and you can relax in the Victorian parlor and visit with your hostess or other guests.

Only a few blocks from downtown, this lovely home is a great option for your stay in Durango Colorado.

Another historic bed and breakfast in Durango Colorado, the Leland House is right across from the Rochester Hotel (check it out on the hotels page). It has 10 rooms in a beautiful, restored two-storey brick apartment building, built in 1927. Each room is named after a historic figure related to the Leland House.

The gourmet breakfasts are served in the lobby of the Rochester Hotel, and include fresh muffins and scones, coffee cakes, a hot entrée and fresh fruit.

Just one block from downtown, you’re close to the action here, yet don’t need to rely on public transportation (or a rental vehicle). Enjoy a little more Durango history at the Leland House.

While it may not look as historic, this bed and breakfast in Durango Colorado is one of the few ranches on Lightner Creek Road that was there when my mom bought her place further up the road. (That’s also where parts of the movie City Slickers were filmed — the end of Lightner Creek Road.) The main inn is the 100 year old farmhouse that sat on the ranch from the beginning.

Six guest rooms are in the main house, while the carriage house contains three suites. A full, gourmet breakfast is served each morning in their charming dining room.

And of course, Lightner Creek runs through the property, giving it a nice country air. A popular place for weddings, the setting makes a great place to celebrate anything. Come see for yourself!

Highlights

Another of the bed and breakfasts in Durango Colorado, Lou's Bed & Breakfast sits along the banks of the Animas River. While it only has two rooms, the relaxing atmosphere make it worth a check. Each has a private entrance, private bath and private parking.

Continental breakfast is included, and the rooms have a kitchenette, if you wish to cook some of your own meals. Close to a grocery, walking paths and the Rec Center, it’s a nice location without being amidst too much noise and bustle.
